Engagement Ring

When I was preparing to get engaged I decided I wanted to design the ring that I would give to my then-girlfriend. I knew nothing about jewelry and had never taken any metal-working classes before, so I did lots of research into what was possible, what to look for in gemstones…and the various costs of different materials and techniques.

I did very detailed sketches of what I wanted and found a goldsmith who I could tell understood them and would indulge the level of control I wanted in the process. We met at each step of the ring’s creation, from my signing off on the wax model that would be used, pre-casting, to viewing dozens of diamonds to find the two I liked.
