Dictated by a combination of marketing objectives, analytics, and user-testing results, the major goals of the 2014 redesign of ncsu.edu were:

  • To bring every aspect of the site (design, writing, photography, etc.) in line with NC State’s newly established brand
  • To rework the IA and page content so that the homepage and a select set of landing pages became the “stars” of the site
  • To make the site highly responsive i.e. take a “mobile-first” approach to the design and development.

I was lead designer on this project, working closely with a team of directors, as well as writers, developers, photographers, and project managers, on every step of the site’s creation.

The NC State website received a CASE National Circle of Excellence Silver Award in 2015. I also worked on an extensive case study of this site, to help University Communication’s partners learn about effective web content and design.
